About Us

If you’re interested in a Birman kitten, then this may be the most important website you’ll ever visit.

Here’s why:

Since I founded Davevue Birmans in 2003, I have focused on producing the finest quality Birman kittens YOU will find, whilst giving YOU, the owner the highest level of confidence possible.

So when I decided to PROVE that I'm 100% confident in my kittens, I chose to make anyone who purchases a kitten from me a jaw dropping, DOUBLE GUARANTEE:

"If your cat/kitten develops ANY genetic problem in the first 5 years, I will replace it, AND give you every last dollar paid to me back"

I offer this guarantee so that YOU can have the highest level of confidence in any gorgeous Danevue Birman kitten you purchase.  I have chosen such an exclusive offer to ensure my Birman bloodlines are as genetically problem free as possible – this offer holds me to ALWAYS ensuring this.

You see, I only breed from the best parents possible as I aim for the highest standard of Birman whilst being THE BEST Birman breeder.

Furthermore, I only ever breed from the now rare and exclusive PURE Birman lines.

What do I mean by 'pure Birman lines'?

From the establishment & origin of the breed after the First World War, the original Birman colours were seal and blue point Birman cats and kittens.  Recently, breeders have mixed their Birmans with other cat breeds like Siamese and other cats to create NEW colour points like chocolate, lilacs, tabbies, torties reds and so on.  This means that since the Birman bloodline was last established in the mid 1900’s (after the Second World War), most Birman bloodlines now contain the new coloured bloodlines so they are no longer only from the original pure foundation Birman bloodlines.

But I choose not to breed from ANY of these Birmans, so all Danevue Birmans are PROUDLY from foundation Birman bloodlines (as lastly established in the mid 1900’s).  Now, dont get me wrong. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the other colours of Birmans.  But I am passionate about preserving and perfecting the original pure lines and keeping these lines active. What's more is that there's not a lot of pure line Birman cats left out there, which is one reason I'm so passionate about them.   Plus it gives YOU the opportunity to boast that your Birman is in fact from the original foundation bloodlines dating right back to the mid 1900s with no added colour!

So if you want one of the other colours, then dont come to me. I dont have them and I never will.

I’M CONFIDENT in my bloodlines.  I know them. Their beauty is that because they’re very old and established with years and years of problem free breeding.  So I know that I am breeding from the best quality Birmans I will ever find, to give YOU the THE BEST Birmans YOU will ever find.

The other thing I pride myself on is the care I give to my cats.  I always make sure that my cats are really well cared for which reflects on the health of Danevue Birman kittens. Here are some of the things I do to maintain my cats in the best possible condition – which go above and beyond governing bodies and Birman association’s code of ethics:

  • Mothers (Queens) are NEVER bred from more than once a year. Our Birmans are our pets and not breeding machines. Instead we ensure to put the long term health and wellbeing of our cats first.  From my own personal experience of having 2 babies within 14 months of each other there’s no way I would want any of my cats’ lives to be spent doing that year upon year after year!!
  • All Queens are of show quality Birman type – if our Birmans do not meet show standards we will not breed from them (why? Because we are passionate about maintaining the highest possible standard by aiming for perfection - how could we do this if we bred from Birmans that did not meet show standards AND did not have purrsonalities to die for!?!)
  • All cats are wormed and vaccinated on time and ALL vaccinations are vet administered
  • All adult cats are vet checked at least once a year – whilst all Queens are also vet checked and administered with oxytocin injections after giving birth to their litters (just like women after giving birth to their babies!)
  • They are fed preservative free fresh meat sourced directly from a Melbourne supplier – the only supplier of preservative free fresh pet meat I know of in Victoria
  • They aren’t fed cheap salty dry foods, only the best non-supermarket brands

Now, because we only breed from our Queens once a year, it means we don’t always have kittens on hand for you.  And there's nothing we can do about that. You're free to go to another breeder if you want, because if you come to us, odds are you'll have to go on a waiting list.  And that's just the way it is.  We wont breed more often, or get bigger by having more Birmans than we're happy we can maintain our exceptionally high standards whilst being able to spend a great deal of time with all of our Birmans.

So what do you get with a kitten from Danevue Birmans? Every kitten we sell is:

  • De-sexed (we do NOT sell un-desexed pet kittens to anyone. I don’t care if you beg and plead, if you're not a registered breeder, it ain’t ever going to happen).  And if you are a registered breeder and you want a show quality kitten from us; prepare for the inquisition,
  • Microchipped. Its the law anyway, and one I fully support,
  • Vaccinated twice AND both times by a vet,
  • Wormed and flea free,
  • Toilet trained (no way would I want you to have a kitten that wasn’t) ,
  • “Bombproof”- kittens are raised inside our home with our young children,
  • Provided with a copy of the pedigree (breeding history) of the kittens parents

Plus, you're ALWAYS welcome to call or email me if you have any questions or concerns. I want to hear from you.  After taking one of our precious gems into your home if I haven’t heard from you, you will hear from me, as I ALWAYS follow up to ensure everything is going purrfectly and my Birman babies are living up to their impeccable reputation.

To get in touch with me, email me Mrs. Elli Thyer at birmans@jc.com.au, or call me on 03 5221 3472.

PS Make sure you get on our list for a kitten as soon as you decide, to avoid a long wait.
